A Veteran’s Flight Logs Tell Harrowing Stories of WWII

During World War II, Pincus Mansfield served with the 453rd Bombardment Group of the U.S. Eighth Air Force.

In his time of service, Mansfield flew harrowing bomber missions over the skies of occupied Europe.

Despite the fact that he had an impressive military career as a young man, his children had no idea.

Like many veterans, Pincus didn’t spend a lot of time telling war stories. Sixty-five years later, however, the past surfaced.

As Howard Mansfield and his brother were cleaning out their father’s home, they stumbled upon war records they never knew existed.

In a drawer, Howard discovered detailed records from his father’s bombing missions. After further research, he learned more about his father’s heroic past.

These discoveries found their way into Howard’s book “I Will Tell No War Stories.” The book looks at war veterans and the stories that go untold.

We thank the greatest generation for all they’ve done. Now, they’ve earned a secure retirement, and Congress must pass the Elder Relief Act to give back. Learn more here.
