World War II veterans are some of the biggest heroes of our time. When the world needed them most, they stepped up, facing brutal conditions and impossible odds to protect freedom and build a better future for the rest of us.
These men and women went through it all: storming the beaches of Normandy, fighting in the air and at sea, and battling through some of the harshest environments imaginable. Many came home with injuries that changed their lives forever, and far too many didn’t make it home at all.
Meanwhile back in the States, millions worked around the clock in factories, farms, and hospitals to keep the war effort going strong.
Thanks to their courage and sacrifice, entire nations were freed from tyranny and one of history’s darkest chapters was brought to an end. Our world—and the freedoms we enjoy today—would look very different without them. As time goes on, it’s more important than ever to remember what they gave and to honor everything they stood for.
As the number of living WWII veterans dwindles, we must ensure their stories are preserved and their legacy lives on. Whether through remembrance events, supporting veteran organizations, or simply listening to their experiences, we owe them our deepest gratitude. Their bravery changed history—and for that, we will never forget.
The greatest generation gave so much for America and gets so little in their retirement years. We are working to give back to these great Americans. See what we are doing here.
