COLA 2026

COLA Projections for 2026 Show a Possible Change

The annual announcement of the next cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is an important moment for Social Security recipients. The announcement comes every October, but while it’s not official until that time, projections roll out months earlier.

Though we’re still two months away from seeing the new COLA, projections are out, and it seems that we could be looking at a small increase —but ultimately more of the same.

As rising inflation and new tariffs continue to make living less affordable, it looks like we will see a small increase in COLA for next year. Unfortunately, it’s only expected to increase from 2.5 percent in 2025 to 2.6 or 2.7 percent in 2026.

This increase is little more than an insult to those who have been struggling with low benefits for years. Older Americans need more help, and we have some ideas.

We believe that a bill we call the Elder Relief Act would be life-changing for retirees who rely on Social Security. This proposed legislation would give Americans 82 and over a significant monthly increase, along with a guaranteed substantial boost every year after. learn more here.
