Remembering the Sacrifices of Our Korean War Vets

The Korean War is often called “The Forgotten War,” but for the brave men and women who served—and the families who waited anxiously at home—it was anything but forgotten. Parents, spouses, and children lived each day hoping for a letter, praying for a safe return, and carrying the emotional burden of a loved one serving in a distant conflict. Many families endured months or even years of uncertainty, while those who returned home often faced lasting physical and emotional scars.

The sacrifices made by America’s Korean War veterans extended far beyond the battlefield. They answered their nation’s call, defended freedom, and helped shape history, often at great personal cost.

Today, many of these heroes are in their late 80s and 90s, living on fixed incomes while struggling with rising healthcare costs, housing expenses, and the increasing cost of everyday necessities.

We have an opportunity to honor their service in a meaningful way. The Elder Relief Act would provide much-needed financial relief to our oldest Social Security recipients, helping ensure that the veterans who gave so much for our country can live their later years with greater dignity and security.

Our veterans stood up for America when they were needed most. Now it’s our turn to stand up for them. Contact your members of Congress today and urge them to support the Elder Relief Act. It’s a simple way to say “thank you” to a generation that sacrificed so much for us all.

Those who gave so much for this country, deserve more in retirement. That’s why the Elder Relief Act is so important. Learn more here.
