Here at 82 & Up we are dedicated to protecting and helping members of America’s greatest generations, seniors age 82 years and older.
We are calling on Congress to pass a bill we refer to as The Elder Relief Act. This bill will increase the monthly Social Security benefits of older retirees by $85 a month and automatically increase benefits by 4 percent each year moving forward.
Let’s face it, healthcare, medical and prescription costs go up as we get older. And older Americans should receive fair COLA increases that reflect those increased expenses as we age. Americans contribute to Social Security throughout their careers, so we are not asking for a handout. We’ve earned our benefits and we are only asking for a fair COLA that reflects increased expenses we incur as we age.
We will use this site to share news, information and updates related to Social Security and The Elder Relief Act.
Please join us – and our Executive Director, John Mucci – on this most important of missions. They did so much for us and for America – now it’s time we do something for them.
And visit our blog, 82andUp.org, as we look back on this special era.
Our Executive Director
John Mucci is the executive director of 82 & Up.
As John noticed how seniors were treated and ignored in Washington he didn’t like what he saw. John soon got involved in the fight to improve the lives of senior citizens, especially the members of the greatest generation.
It’s important that we are united in helping and protecting older Americans because we’re fighting on behalf of the people who protected our freedoms and rights. There’s nothing more important than that.“ – John Mucci
John became the Executive Director of 82 & Up in the Fall of 2021. He’s been one of the loudest voices in support of the The Elder Relief Act.
We owe it to those who sacrificed so much for our country. We must fight for older Americans, our greatest national treasure.” – John Mucci
