82 & Up: Fighting to Make Life More Affordable for Seniors

For millions of older Americans, living on a fixed income has become increasingly difficult. Rising grocery prices, housing costs, medical expenses, and utility bills are stretching Social Security benefits to their limits. For seniors aged 82 and older, these financial challenges can be especially overwhelming.

That’s why 82 & Up is working to make a difference.

Through our advocacy for the Elder Relief Act, 82 & Up is fighting to provide much-needed financial relief to some of America’s oldest citizens. The proposed legislation would increase monthly Social Security benefits by $85 for qualifying seniors, followed by a 4 percent annual increase to help benefits keep pace with rising living costs.

Many Americans in this age group spent decades working, raising families, serving their communities, and helping build the nation we know today (not to mention those that served in multiple wars to defend our freedom.) These Americans deserve to enjoy their golden years with dignity and financial security rather than worrying about how to afford groceries, prescriptions, or their next utility bill.

We believe that no senior should have to choose between paying for necessities and protecting their health. By raising awareness, advocating for meaningful Social Security reform, and encouraging Americans to contact their elected representatives, we are working to make life more affordable for those who need relief most.
